Update...on What?

We have had a pretty "uneventful" week. Not much has been going on, that is out of the ordinary for us. Jess had a Dr. appointment on Monday and he did say that her ears were clear of fliud so we aren't going to have to do the "tube" thing again-at least not now. With the change in weather, we never know when she will wake up all congested and that usually leads into ear problems. Oh well, just part of our every day life.

Today is leap day, so Kenny and I took Jessica to school and then went to McDonald's for our free breakfast burrito! See how exciting our lives are??? It is nice to get out in the morning, just the 2 of us, even if it is just for a few minutes-he had to be right back at work.

Kenny has class on Wed. nights, so that makes it tough on Jess and me to get to Bible Study-but we made it this week. We had dinner at church, so I just fixed Kenny and bowl of soup and sent him on his way! I forget how thankful I am to have a husband who goes to church with us normally. When I have Jess by myself-I am worn out when I get home! Usually I get to visit while Kenny and Jess "hang out", but on these night I have to get her after class-so it is straight to the car!

Well, our week-end will start this afternoon and I am sure it will be an exciting one-yard work, playing with Jess, maybe a dinner out and church! Hope everyone else will have a great one, too. I am thankful that I have family and friends to "celebrate" life with every day!

The Ladies See the Lady Vols!

What a fun end to my week! Let me start by thanking Kristen and Kenny for taking care of Jessica so I could go. Kristen picked Jess up from school and kept her until Kenny got home from work. Then Dad was on duty-24/7. I'm sure he doesnt' want to do that all the time but he said they had a good time. They even went to Cracker Barrel for dinner on Thursday night! What a great Daddy!

I left for Montgomery on Thursday morning after dropping Jess off at school. It was kinda nice just being in the car by myself-sunroof open, music blasting...whatever I wanted. It was kind of strange because I don't think I have been off by myself since Jessica was born and it is amazing how you become dependant on your husband to get you wherever you are going. Anyway, I made it to Faulkner in time to have lunch with Louise and Leigh. Jordan even came up to the grill and joined us. It was good to see him and to get to visit with everyone. I went back to the mailroom with Louise and visited until Leigh and I had to leave. Louise didn't get to go to the game because she had been off some much lately. We MISSED YOU, LOUISE!

When Leigh go off work, we left and went and picked up Laurie at their house and "donned" ourselves in our TENNESSEE gear! We left and had an uneventful trip to the University of AL. It was nice again, just to get to visit and catch up on what is happening in their lives. We got to the gym and went right and and picked up our tickets. We were on the 7th row-right at half court!Great seats!

There were probably more TN fans there then there were AL fan-not that I can blame them. This was my first ever Lady Vols game so I was REALLY excited! It was great fun even though Tennessee blew AL out!

After the game we went down to see if we could get pictures and autographs!!! I did! Pat Summitt (TN Coach) was working her way out of the gym and I was the last one on the rail--I stuck my ticket out and she grabbed it and signed it! I was like a kid--sooooo excited.

We got us a quick bite to eat and headed back to Montgomery. Thanks to Leigh for being the driver and a great big thanks to both Laurie and Leigh for inviting me and "wining and dining" me the whole time!

Friday morning we got up and met Louise and Dustin at I-Hop, Walker and Jordan wouldn't get out of the bed--lazy college kids! I left and after driving though HORRIBLE weather, I finally got home! Glad to be home and see Kenny and Jess-but looking forward to the next time!!!!!

THANKS AGAIN, LAURIE, LOUISE AND LEIGH!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Disappointment and Excitement!

Kenny and I have been planning for several week to go over to Montgomery and see Jordan, my nieces and nephew. Jessica is out of school for winter break and Kenny even took off 2 day-he never gets to take off work! So we had our plans made and were going to stay at Laurie and Leigh's house. Yesterday (Friday), Jordan called and said he was going to Birmingham with some friends. Guess you know where that left us...sitting at home. We did spend yesterday and today-the weather has been beautiful-working in the yard, but I really thought we could have used a day or two OUT of town!

So as soon as that trip was cancelled, I began making other plans. The Tennessee women's basketball team is playing at Alabama on Thursday night. So...I am going to take Jess to school and leave for Montgomery. Kenny will be "in charge" for the night! I don't think I have ever left her overnight with Kenny. My mother, my sister-even my nieces, but never her Daddy. I think it will be good for both of them and I am really looking forward to it! I hope Louise will be able to go but Laurie, Leigh and I are going for sure!!!

Guess you can tell we live a real exciting life--planning for weeks to go to MONTGOMERY! OH Well...we are really home-bodies anyway!

During this past week, Samantha played her last basketball game of the year. I can't believe that she will graduate next year!!! She is the BABY! We have really enjoyed watching her this year and are looking forward to next year as well as soccer and softball!

Nieces

One real reason I feel sorry for only children, is that they never get to experience the pleasure of nieces and nephews. The down side of being an aunt is that you had to put up with your sibblings before they got married and had children :), but I think all the fussing and fighting through childhood is worth getting to be an aunt!

I have been very lucky to have had 5 beautiful, funny and loving nieces and 1 nephew. Now don't get me wrong, I love my nephew-but there is just something about those nieces. Maybe it's the fact that we are all females, but there is something that has always pulled me to my girls. I wasn't married when they were born and I thought there was no way I could have loved my own anymore. They spent the night with me, went to town with me...anywhere Gin-Gin went they wanted to go.

This blog is sent to you on the "baby's" birthday. Samantha was born 17 years ago today-boy that is even hard for me to say! She immediately took to Gin-Gin because her sister wanted Nana and Walker, the only Grandson, was Papa's. So maybe Samantha was just stuck with me. She wanted to go everywhere with me. When Kenny and I started dating and got married she was OK because we lived just across the street from her. She "took" to Kenny pretty quickly so that made whole "ordeal" easier for her to accept.

When Jessica was born, Samantha was around 9. She stayed at our house. I don't mean, just came by and checked on things-I mean she STAYED there. She had her Mom drop her off EVERY afternoon after school and she stayed until Karen called and said she HAD to come home. She would sit in while Jess was having therapy and then if you didn't do everything just like the therapist had said-she corrected you quickly.

When we moved to Dasher-she was devestated! She told us that we could move but Jessica was not leaving Quitman-the girl was 15! When she turned 16 and got her own car, we didn't see her quite as much but she still worships Jessica. She brings her gift from her trips, buys her things at the mall for no reason and loves to see her at the basketball games.

Samantha is 17 today and I vividly remember the day she was born ( I remember when all of them were born ). Samantha has grown into a sweet, loving and caring young lady-did I mention stong-willed? I hope you have a great day today, Samantha! I love you!!!!
